Since we started this homepage we have had this many vistors.  Thank you for stopping by our homepage.
Welcome to my homepage.  My name is Whispering Eagle and I am enrolled member of the Lummi Indian Nation located in the Pacific Northwest.  We are known as the fish people and our close knit community has a rich history of fishing and travelling throughout the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound.  I was adopted as an infant and 48 years later I returned home to find thousands of relatives.  My husband of 25 years and I are traditional Native American dancers and enjoy travelling to Round Drum Pow Wows and Traditional Gatherings.

I have included some of my favorite links to sources for Native American concerns and activities.  If you want to know more about Native American Indians, please check out my suggested links.  Since my life includes Adoption, you will find some of the supportive places that I have found helpful.  Another interest in my life has been researching my roots and finding my family.  I have included many links to places where I found great resources for Native American  genealogy.

My husband and I own and operate a small espresso and craft shop on the Lummi Indian Reservation and hope to expand our business to include a web-based trading post.  We hope to offer many crafts and artwork designed and handcrafted by myself and my cousins.  Traditionally the Lummi Indian Nation is considered part of the Coastal Salish, most of the native crafts include carving and making cedar hats and accesories.  Since our community is considered a fishing community, our culture express many traditions using items native to the area in which we live.  I am trying to learn about the heritage that I missed by not being here. We would like to offer these many practical items that you will find located at our trading post.   Since we are a family owned and run business we will be including many links to our other homepages where we can display these items.  Please visit them and let us know  what you think.

My Current Interests and Activities
Northwest Indian College
Since last fall I have been attending college at our local college on my home reservation, Northwest Indian College.  I am enrolled as an honor student in the Tribal Environmental and Natural Resource management program.  We are involved in learning how to use education combined with our cultural beliefs to work toward a better and safer environment and world for the planet.  I am enjoying my classes and am learning many new concepts.  Please visit the link below to find out more about our college.
Young Once, Indian Forever
I am also a member of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES).  We are able to access support and participate in activities that will provide important networking opportunities for the future of our careers.  Our environment is very important and it is about time that we take notice and attempt to preserve our planet.  I am interested in restoring the population of Pacific Northwest Salmon.  Please visit their site and check them out.
American Indian Science and Engineering Society
In 1952, I was removed from my home and family and adopted by a non-Native family and raised to become a normal and productive member of society.  It was thought at that time by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Child Welfare Agency that I would be better off in a family that could convince me that I was not Native American Indian.  But at the age of 40, I found that something was still missing in my life and I searched for my own family.  I found them in 1992, and reunited with them when I moved home to the Lummi Indian Nation in 1998.  I support the work that my friend, Diane Tells His Name does trying to get the correct details out to the world about a tragedy that should have never happened to the Native American people.  Please visit her site listed below and find out for yourself.
